Why are we called Essex Bakery?

Our surname is Essex and we are also based in Essex.

 Where do we bake?

We bake in small batches to order in our unit in Elmstead Market, near Colchester. We have a 5* Hygiene Rating from Tendring District Council and up to date Level 2 Hygiene Certificates.

Where can you buy our brownies?

We sell directly to customers from our online shop (minimum order - a box of brownies or a brownie cake). We offer POSTAL DELIVERY in mainland UK, LOCAL DELIVERY and FREE COLLECTION. We also have a TikTok Shop and are on Deliveroo.

What are our brownies made with?

We use the finest Belgian chocolate, gluten free flour, 100% cocoa powder, unsalted butter and fresh local free range eggs. Please check all the allergens and ingredients here.

Do we supply to local cafés, delis?

Do we offer our brownies to the corporate world?

We pride ourselves in offering the best quality brownies we can possibly make to local businesses. Our brownies have been used for gifts to clients, lunch boxes at big events, business meetings showcasing local produce. Get in touch to discuss.

Are our brownies gluten free?

Yes, we only use gluten free flour and gluten free baking powder in our kitchen.

What chocolate do we use in our brownies?

We make our brownies with the finest Belgian dark, milk and white chocolate.

Are our brownies nut free?

No, we use nuts in our kitchen. Our brownies will not be suitable for people with nut allergies.

 Are our brownies suitable for vegetarians?

We use butter and eggs in our recipe, they are suitable for vegetarians but not vegans.

What is the shelf life of our brownies?

Our brownies are best eaten within 2 weeks of purchase, they can be stored in a dark cool place/fridge for 2 weeks or frozen for up to 3 months.

Do we deliver by post?

Yes, we post with Royal Mail Tracked 24, UK mainland only.
